Advanced Fertility Treatments

Fertility Surgery

Structural anomalies that prevent pregnancy can often be successfully addressed by fertility surgery.

Surgery is required to overcome many sources of infertility. While surgery may be scary to consider, rest assured that our fertility specialists are also skilled, experienced surgical gynecologists who can perform any procedure that you need. Fertility surgery is one of the most effective methods of addressing reproductive challenges.

Also, by using minimally invasive laparoscopic and microscopic surgical techniques, your overall discomfort and recovery time will be significantly reduced.

Fertility Surgery Solutions for Common Reproductive Concerns

Certain conditions respond well to surgical treatment. Also, in some cases, fertility surgery can allow you to conceive naturally.

  • Endometriosis – The growth of intrauterine tissue outside of the uterus — on the uterus itself, or on other nearby organs — is called endometriosis. While the effect of mild endometriosis on fertility is still being researched, we know that severe endometriosis can inhibit your fertility. If medications don’t help, we can perform a minimally invasive operation to remove the unnatural tissue.
  • Uterine fibroids – Fibroids are noncancerous growths that form in your uterine tissues. While they’re extremely common, only fibroids that protrude into the uterine cavity (called submucous fibroids) are known to harm fertility, doing so by interfering with embryo implantation. Typically, removing fibroids through surgery is the only treatment that can improve fertility.
  • Ovarian cysts – Growths (generally non cancerous) that form in the ovaries and, if large enough, can interfere with ovulation. In these instances, we can generally remove the cyst with a minimally invasive procedure.
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) – Women with this condition will form a large number of small cysts in the ovaries, which can interfere with hormone production and cause infertility. While medications can sometimes help a women with PCOS get pregnant, a surgical procedure called ovarian drilling may be necessary to regulate hormone levels and allow for normal ovulation.
  • Blocked fallopian tubes – If you have a blockage in your fallopian tubes, it’s typically more cost-effective and less invasive to skirt the problem with in vitro fertilization (IVF), rather than surgically remove the blockage. However, if you’d like to avoid IVF for personal reasons, we can provide a surgical solution.

Minimally Invasive Fertility Surgery Techniques

Minimally invasive fertility surgery changed the surgical game, and we have years of experience solving a wide variety of surgical problems. Our minimally invasive surgical techniques include:

  • Laparoscopy – We insert a small camera through a keyhole-sized incision in your abdomen.
  • Hysteroscopy – Rather than making an incision, we perform your entire surgery through the vaginal canal, reducing discomfort and recovery time.
  • Microscopy – Some areas of the reproductive system, such as the fallopian tubes, are small enough to require a microscopic view. These high-tech procedures require exceptional surgical skill, which we offer at Reproductive Gynecology & Infertility.

What Our Patients Say About Us

RGI made our dreams come true! And Samantha’s gift of hope….there really aren’t words to express how they changed our lives. We won their grant in 2019 and it has continued to bless us several years later. Every time we make a financial decision I think of SGH and how I don’t know if it’d be possible if it wasn’t for them.
RGI and Samantha’s Gift of Hope has forever changed our lives in the best way possible because they have given us the greatest gift we could ever get—our sweet daughter. We have this joy of being parents we had previously only dreamed about, and honestly weren’t sure we would ever have. Now, everyday is filled with baby giggles and snuggles, cheering her on to her next milestone (which is currently crawling), and trying to be the best parents we can be. We will never be able to repay RGI and Samantha’s Gift of Hope, but we will forever be grateful to them and are daily reminded of it.
RGI made it possible for us to experience the joys of becoming parents. There is no greater feeling or love in this world that we’ve experienced than bringing Liam into this world. We truly understand the miracle and blessings babies are. SGOH we will forever feel grateful for. We cannot thank Lisa, Matt and Sam enough for their generosity and helping couples pay towards their IVF journeys. Honestly, SGOH really does provide HOPE. Winning the grant also helped us to feel like this is really happening, it’s meant to be.
Because of Samantha’s Gift of Hope, our dream of having a child came true. We could focus more on each step of the process and keep a positive attitude through it all instead of constantly worrying about what things cost and how we would make it work. Now, our sweet Tenley girl is 1 week old and I continue to be thankful each day for the opportunity Samantha’s Gift of Hope gave us. We are now living out our favorite roles as mom and dad and are filled with so much love for our little girl!
